The Dragon's Mouth

There’s a world out there, beyond the world of man. The journey is long, and covers much land.
Beyond the Plains, the Mountains appear, it’s dark and unsettling, but there’s nothing to fear.
Go up the mountain, and approach the cave. You can hear it breathing; you know its name.
“Dragon,” you whisper, smelling sulfuric air. Protection you crave, it’s why you came here.
Stepping inside, you see the flame. It passes straight through you, yet you feel not the pain.
He moves before you, his size paramount. Don’t stop and stare, don’t hesitate, you see its mouth.
He opens his arms. He lays and waits.
“Embrace me,” he beckons, “Embrace, that which you fear.”
His mouth hangs open, you know why your there.
Embrace him, go into his mouth.
The inside is not what you may expect. Not tissue, nor organs, not an impending death. You see your life's story, beginning to now, your futures unwritten, until your shown how.
Many pathways to choose from, one more perilous than the rest. The choice is yours; you’ve come this far in the test.
Do you take the less traveled? Or the beaten path?
Do you follow the others, who came in the past? Are you your own mind, body, and soul?
Or are you of something, you’ve yet to let show? The one easily swayed, to follow another’s trade.
Would you take the reigns, go down through the flames? Do what you haven’t; and reveal your true name.
None need know it, only you and he. It’s the dragons true secret, to keep you, without need.
Find yourself on the path, and scream out the pain. Leave the anger and frustration, release the shame.
Bypass it all, and move on from there. Know thy true self, it is the key.
You realize your prisons are somewhere open and free.
Having faced the Dragon, you are still here. It was only yourself that you truly feared. Standing in your own place, you’re alone, yet not. For the Dragon’s Mouth was the Pathway, to your, heart.
