Chapter 1

Keegan

I watched her as she stared off into the space between the blackboard and the clock. This raven haired beauty that had chewed through more than a dozen pens in class in just a couple of weeks. I have been wondering just what has the girl so frustrated. I have also wondered what it would be like if she wrapped those well glossed lips a round my cock rather than that plastic pen cap. Sitting in the back of the lecture hall with the rest of the deviant class I can watch her, but she’s not ready. Not yet. But soon… Ahh... the opening spring lecture.

“Grigori University is a special kind of school. After the Great Unveiling in the early 21st century we Otherkind have lived in relative peace with the humans. Sharing our technology, and of course donating our dead to the sciences has kept governments at bay, and Grigori is one of North Eastern America’s leading mixed schools. It took some rallying to get us here. But it’s been two years and so far we haven’t had any riots so there’s always that to write home to mom and dad about.”

A scattering of laughter filed the room and the raven haired girl looked back over her shoulder her eyes scanned the darkness of the high seats, until I felt them settle for an instant on me. My heart raced at the thought that she may have finally noticed me, as I’ve noticed her. Hunger filled the pit of my stomach, I had to close my eyes to hide the glow that would have started the room. When I opened them again her glance had moved on and I was left lonely.

Chapter 2

Ryane

I felt it again, those eyes from the deviant seats roving over me. Why does it excite me as much as it unsettles me? I know who and what they are. I know the rules about fraternizing. It’s not totally a no-no, but it’s still frowned upon by most. But God how can you not want to sink your teeth into them? They are prime grade A man meat. I mean not an ounce of fat sits on any one of them. They all look like men out of a GQ catalogue and dress just as fine. And the girls are just as pristine. All long legs and flawless skin. Well most of them. Some seem to slum it up, but I think that’s to make us feel more at ease.

Professor Excelsior gave his Spring opener about the mixed class, and how we need to integrate more. Maybe I’ll invite them to the Spring Fling at Phi Beta Delta this weekend, that would be jovial and welcoming…. Right? That’s just what I’ll do. I turn in my seat trying to decide who the best one to approach is, but they are all so intimidating. I also don’t know who’s a what. Some I know are shifters, Werebeings, half human half animal spirit whose likeness they can take on, like werewolves, werecats. I heard that one of them may even be a dragon… But that’s just silly. I recognized Keegan Teague, I’m pretty sure he’s on the Rugby Team, he’s certainly big enough. Well over six feet and wide as a house. That platinum blonde hair is pretty cool… But he also looks like he’s sound asleep. Don’t want to bother him, might wake up and try and eat me, and not in the fun sort of way! Scanning further I see Collette Athame. She’s a sister and apparently friendly with one of the boys. Problem solved. As class is in a down swing I high tail it over to Collette.

“Hey. Collette?” I try and sound friendly. I may be in a sorority, but friendly isn’t my strongest suit. I’ve made sure to screw on my smile though.

“Ryane, hey honey-pie!” Collette jumped up giving me a hug that I can only describe as perky. “Don’t you look super cute today? Greisen don’t you think she looks cute?”

“Very retro.” The boy Collette had been sitting with answered. Apparently his name was Greisen. Why did these guys always have impossible to pronounce names?

I looked myself over. I wore a pair of black leggings with black all-star sneakers a ruffled denim skirt, Band t-shirt and a distressed denim jacket. My wavy black hair was in a low slung ponytail at the side of my head. I had thought very little of the look.

“It was clean, so I tossed it on this morning.” I half-laughed fidgeting with my hair.

“Oh well, you did a good job!” Collette forced a now awkward smile.

“Um, yeah, so I came over here for a reason…” I was losing my nerve. C’mon you coward, it’s one party, just invite them already. I chided myself.

Greisen stood up. “I would love a party. I think I know a few others who wouldn’t misbehave too much, my love.” He extended his hand, taking mine and bringing it up to his lips. I just watched as he left a short chaste kiss on it, introducing himself.

“Greisen Calder, Otherkind Class Rep. If you need anything from us, you come to me and I will make your dreams come true.”

The way he said that made me rethink the chastity of the kiss to my hand and wondering if I should be checked for VD.

He laughed outright. “Honey, we don’t get those diseases.”

Okay second time… Did he just?

“Read your mind? Yes, sweetie. And what a playground you have up there!” He smirked before suddenly looking up. My eyes followed, hearing someone swear I saw the classroom door swing closed.

“What’s?” When I turned back my flirtatious new friend and Collette were both gone…

Chapter 3

Keegan

Class rarely gets a lull, but when it does the room tends to mingle. I was going to head out but then I saw it. She moved, my Raven haired beauty, she who never ejects from her seat was heading right over to… Greisen Calder?

Of all the rotten sons of bitches to associate with….

Breathe Keegan, you have no claim on that girl. You haven’t even taken the time to find out her name for fucks sake. Sure I could tell myself that, but it didn’t mean I was going to believe a word of it. My blood was on fire as that lousy good for nothing second class hack of a vampire tried putting the charm whammy on my girl! Not gonna fucking happen… Kissing her hand… Laughing and chatting her up.

       “Keegan? Are, you okay?”

The sound of Charles’ voice brought me out of my rage just enough to acknowledge him.

“What?” I snapped quietly, but realized most of the upper seated classmates were staring.

“You are staring daggers at Greisen, and you’re bleeding, we can all smell it.”

“Fuck.” I growled, then used my preternatural speed to keep the lookie loos from tagging along too easily as I made my exit. Once in the bathroom I unclenched my fists, finding that I had driven my nails through my palms and indeed drawn blood. I ran them under the warm water liking the sting as the door swung open. Charles and Greisen barreling inside.

“My Lord, what’s happened?” Charles asked concerned, I rarely lost my temper off the field, so his look was warranted however unwanted.

“Yes, my Lord, you’ve hurt yourself.” Greisen added although his manner seemed more slick than concerned.

“You need to stay the fuck away from me, Greisen.”

He scoffed. “Me? What have I done to offend thee?” He placed a hand on his chest defensively.

I slammed him onto the wall, the mirror cracking behind him. “You don’t get to touch her! You hear me!” I spat at him, my fangs chomping down an inch from his nose. “Try a stunt like that again and I’ll bleed you dry where you stand!”

“Who my Lord?” Charles grasped my arm trying to pull me off of Greisen, as I was squeezing his throat too tightly for him to get a word out edge wise.

“My girl!” I insisted like they should have known I’d been lusting. I hadn’t been fucking the normal sort and that was usually a fair time to ascertain that I was prowling for particulars.

Charles knitted his brows, his brown eyes confused as he squeezed my arm again. “Sir, please. His father is a very important person in the Senate. We cannot just do this.”

I lessened my grip on Greisen and he choked for air, doubling over, hitting his knees as was his position to me.

“I’m sorry my Lord. I had no idea you were setting goals for Ryane Ravencrest. She was simply inviting our group to a party at her sorority this weekend.”

“Rayne Ravencrest?” I whispered under my breath. So that’s her name. I hadn’t known. I looked down at Greisen as I heard a short chuckle and saw a grin on his smug little face. I kicked him in the ribs with my steel toed size 18 ½ black work boots leaving him crying on the floor.
